Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Philadelphia: George Barrie, 1885
Five volumes, cloth boards with leather spines and corners, 5 raised bands & gilt lettering and decoration to spine; all edges gilt. Excellent engravings throughout. Pages are clean, unmarked, and with a notable lack of foxing: pages are still very bright, plates in fine condition. Tissue guards present on plates; engraved title page. Gilt still bright, corners rubbed, leather treated recently. Top of front hinge of volume 1 has a hairline split down to first band. Overall, a better-than-usual copy of this set. Includes biographical introduction by Hjalmar Boyesen. Bookplate of Emily Ivers Meier. A great addition to a home library of beautiful editions of classics. Extra postage required for international shipping: please inquire before ordering.
