Autism Links
Has autism appeared in your life? Here are some sites to check out. In slow development is our Autism Book List. (Both autism sites will be under development for some time. If you have any links or books you'd like to share, please email Scott.)
Societies & Org.'s of various types.
- Autism Society of America (ASA)
One of the most well-funded and oldest organizations, though a bit on the conservative side.
- Center for the Study of Autism (CSA)
Located in Oregon. Their website has lots of great links.
- Autism Research Institute (ARI)
Located in San Diego and works with the CSA (above.) This website has a few great things: DAN! practitioners list, and Parent Ratings of Treatments.
- National Autistic Society (United Kingdom)
Equivalet to the Autism Society of America.
- Cure Autism Now (CAN)
Founders of the largest autism gene bank. Science news, fundraising, information. (Also CANfoundation.org).
- Geneva Centre for Autism
Newsletter, forums. It's a deceptively large site, and worth looking into (although some pages are under construction.)
- National Alliance for Autism Research (NAAR)
Good organization primarily involved with promoting and supporting scientific research.
- NIMH says...
You may not like them, but this website is one of the most informational as far as traditional views go.
- CDC says...
Pretty good website, some good links, but shows how little funding there is for government assistance.
- Families for Early Autism Treatment
Originally Californian group, but fortunately spreading. Site features chapter websites & Listserv.
- Oregon chapter of Families for Early Autism Treatment
This is one of the best websites I've seen. Articles, lending library, links, parent mentors, etc. *****
- Society for the Autistically Handicapped (UK)
Some good links, but they really need help with their website design.
- Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-handicapped Children
Great if you live in North Carolina.

Salem, Oregon based group, good info, fairly scientific.
- MAAP Services for the Autism and Asperger Syndrome

Links, FAQs, info on Asperger's Syndrome, links to books, etc.

Basic site, relatively small, but does have forums.

Primarily fundraising site. Good links on the "what next?" section. *****
- Autism/PDD on about.com
Organized lists of links.

Links site. Lots of links, many annotated! *****
