Browsers' Bookstore Newsletter for March, 2007SHORTEST NEWSLETTER EVER! I've heard a few comments about the state of the Corvallis store lately, so I will make a broad apology: it's a mess. Check out the New Arrivals section of this newsletter to find out why. Thanks to everyone who helped make the poetry reading in Albany a success! We had a wonderful turnout, and everyone had a great time. NEW ARRIVALS This is a short newsletter for a two main reasons: a.) tax time, and b.) two big collections invaded the Corvallis store: 1. Huge collection of mystery and romance paperbacks, including complete (or nearly so) runs of: Arthur Upfield, Anne Perry, early Nora Roberts, Elizabeth Peters, Amanda Quick, too many to list! Georgette Heyer hardcovers! Regency romances! Definitely worth some of your browsing time. (Corvallis.) 2. Huge collection of books on history, exploration, and archaeology. We've gone through about half of these, and they are the ones that are currently piled on the floor in Corvallis. This is one of the best collections I have seen, and anyone who is a serious reader/collector of history books will want to spend some browsing time. (Corvallis.) 3.The first 10 Blackford Oakes adventures by William F. Buckley in matching trade paperback format. Sold separately, $5.50 each. (Albany.) 4. Several hardcovers and some trade paperbacks by Miss Read, the 1960s-80s precursor to the likes of Jan Karon and Jane Kirkpatrick. $5-12 (Albany.) 5. We are preparing to make some more space available in Corvallis, which has forced me to go through some of my secret piles of books in the back. One big topic I have gone through so far is Pacific Northwest history, especially old magazines, ephemera, and booklets. NEW ON THE WEBSITE Paranormal romances!! The latest incarnation of my favorite genre -- the gothic novel -- these are sometimes hard to track down. Check out our recommended reading list at: http://www.browsersbookstore.com/paranormalromance.html Also, our cozy mystery reading list was such a hit, we've almost doubled it in size: http://www.browsersbookstore.com/cozy.html COMING NEXT MONTH In April, I will make up for this short newsletter with a vengeance, as we will be hosting another event and we will be starting a new program that I am very excited about. Stay tuned... Scott GivensBrowsers' Bookstore 121 NW 4th St. Corvallis, OR 97330 1425 Pacific Blvd. SE Albany, OR 97321 www.browsersbookstore.com info@browsersbookstore.com
