Browsers' Bookstore Newsletter for July, 2005

HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY!!!

STORE NEWS

Browsers' is getting full! We've had a lot of great comments from customers on our growth, but . . . we've got to clear out the old books to make way for new books! We'll be reducing prices on over two thousand books this year. Check out our "Last Chance" shelf for 50-cent books by the front door. I've also started in on the literature section this month, so keep your eyes peeled for orange $1.99 price stickers on spines, or browse our online listings at www.browsersbookstore.com

New separate sections added recently are: Chemistry, Botany, and Microbiology. So, don't look in General Science or Nature anymore for these types of books.

Of course, the BIG NEWS is that Mel is getting married!! She'll be off on her honeymoon for the first two weeks of July, so be sure to congratulate her when she comes back!

DO YOU WANT $3?

Did you know you can get $3 in store credit just for adding a link to our site from your own? Add the link, send us an email, and we'll put the credit in your account (or make a new account for you.)

THIS MONTH'S HIGHLIGHTS

Of course, ALL of the thousands of books we buy every month are great, but here are a few of my favorites:

1. Cannery Row first edition, very good (but not great) with DJ. Not a pristine copy by any means, but a good solid copy for the collector not wanting to fork out the _really_ big bucks. $125.

2. A good collection of Jungian psychology books, most prices ranging from $4-15, and a wide variety of authors.

3. Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas first edition, very good in like DJ. This is a sort of a pre-suicide price. Thompson books are still pretty hot right now, but we think the prices will settle down in a few more months. $200.

4. A handful of John Deere operating manuals for farm equipment, $15-30.

5. Lots of Robert Jordan hardcovers have come in recently. They are selling fast, so get yours quick! $5-10

6. Contemporary Japanese Prints 1 (1983). Slight moisture buckling to edges of first half of the book, but no stains. Large collection of very cool prints from the Japan-mania days. $80.

7. The Screwtape Letters, by C.S. Lewis. Hardcover, 1953. Not a first, but a neat vintage HC of this classic. $7.50

8. Galaxy Reader of Science Fiction. 1952. Good sans DJ. This is an early, collectible compilation of SF, but my favorite part of this copy is that someone has written a paragraph on the half-title page in what looks like Tolkein-elvish or Dinotopia-dinosaurian (I'm afraid to admit I'm not up on my fantasy alphabets.) Anyway, it's hilarious. $20.

9. The Whimsical Christian, by Dorothy Sayers. 1st edition, very good in like DJ. Sayers' Christian writings have always been well-regarded, even by people who are not fans of her ever-popular mysteries. This is a reprint of "Christian Letters to a Post-Christian World" which was a limited printing of 2000 copies. $40

----> Most of the above books are _not_ listed online, so if you live out of town, please send us an email if you're interested.
