THE RED BOX SET OF
THE LORD OF THE RINGS
Tolkien’s fantasy masterpiece was put out in two slipcased paperback editions during the height of their popularity in the 1960s-70s: the “red box” and the “gold box.”
Both are highly valued by collectors, and increasingly difficult to find. This is the red box edition. What’s cool about this set is that the wrap-around artwork (by Tolkien himself) on the slipcase is duplicated on the covers of the three books–and if you place them side-by-side you have a 3-book panorama. See the photo, above.
This is a good clean set, the books have the usual toning to pages, moderate rubbing to covers & slipcase. Tape to paper on top of the slipcase. All books have been read but are certainly readable again.
